| | Here is where we went last weekend. Well okay we really went to San Francisco for my cousin’s wedding and a family reunion of sorts. But on the way home we stopped by the abandoned airfield at Crows Landing since we had wondered about it the last few times we’d driven past the Crows Landing exit. Well okay so it was more like we were wondering about the freeway-side facility which turns out to be a big trash incinerator facility run by Covanta Energy Corp. and we came across the airfield info as well. And we like old abandoned structures. And tumbleweeds! The last picture on the Crows Landing portion of that website (the abandoned control tower) is pretty much similar to what we saw. We were also hoping to see a more abandoned version of something like this. But we ended up just seeing some of the old radar equipment from that photo, sitting around in an open lot with lots of tumbleweeds. Of course there were crows! And there was the most beautiful bunch of giant agave with dried-out flower spikes that must have been at least three times my height! We took photos but I’m too lazy to go get them now. Maybe I’ll put them on flickr at some other time. Trust me the agave bunch was super cool though. Gigantic! |
